yeah story of my life I took another semester off college because I am apparently someone who will take 10 years to graduate.

Oh the ticket war girl it was a WAR. I’m going with 3 friends, we all entered the lottery for the UK plus I had my brother and his girlfriend enter, and we each had burner accounts. We didn’t even get emails 🤣.

1. Will is straight, he can’t be gay

this is just reeking of extreme homophobia and heteronormativity. they literally can’t cite a single reason for thinking this which isn’t completely rooted in heteronormativity.

the only interactions we’ve seen will have with girls were in season 2 with the girl at the snowball and in season 4 with the girl in the classroom during el’s presentation.

the season 2 interaction he had with the girl was extremely hesitant AND he looked to MIKE for guidance (or permission?) on what to even do or say- and when they were dancing, he did not look like he was enjoying himself one bit (literally keeping so much room for jesus lmao-).

if mike is bi, the first person that comes to mind when i think of someone of the same gender he could like IS WILL.

mike literally treats will in a more romantic sense than he treats his own girlfriend. let me list a few examples:

- having a will voice™️

- constantly staring at will’s lips

- being a complete asshole to everyone else except will (and even when he is an asshole to him, he can’t stay mad for long)

- trusting and being able to open up to will more than he can his own girlfriend

- delivering a more emotional and truthful monologue to will than to his own gf

- only being able to deliver said monologue to his gf after being pressured by will

- not comforting el during the rink-o-mania incident but complaining how will not paying attention to mike sabotaged his entire day

- having flirty/romantic-coded conversations with will (”not possible scene” and the “cool, cool” scene)

etc.

mike initiates most of the physical touches with will, but rarely (if not never) initiates any of the ones with el.

if there is anyone he loves, it’s will.

3. Will is a predator

ok this is just fucking stupid – like seriously, wth is this dumb ass take. they should just say they’re fuckin homophobic and go.

so apparently to the str8s, will is a predator for having feelings. great. guess i and every single other person on this planet who has the ability to feel romantic love towards another person is a predator.

4. Mike’s arc is about falling in love

i’m sorry i can’t take this seriously 😹😹😹😹😹 are they actually being fr right now-

this claim would be more believable if mike was a side character. however, he’s not – he is a main character. his arc can’t just be about “falling in love” because a) he is not the only character to do that and so b) it would make his character extremely one-dimensional.

falling in love can be PART of his arc, but it just can’t be the basis of his entire arc spanning 4 SEASONS. can they not see how poor this writing choice would be-

if the arc truly was like this, it could have been potentially well-done if it was something like “mike attempting to fall in love after being negatively impacted by his parents’ inability to love one another” or something like that. BUT, there is barely any build-up of karen and ted’s doomed marriage affecting mike’s perception of love, so this just doesn’t work

and plus, if mike’s arc really is about “falling in love” then that means it ended in season 4; what is even the point of having him in season 5 then.
